climate modeling, regional agro-climate scenarios and prediction, climate information supporting biomass production and prediction, agro-climatic indicators, vegetation indices, biophysical parameters, time series
We offer expertise in:
- climate prediction of environmental parameters that influence biomass production;
- impacts of climate change in Romania regarding temperature and precipitation regime shift;
- vegetation dynamics and productivity using vegetation indices and biophysical parameters derived from remote sensing data and agro-meteorological modelling;
- agroclimatic indicators useful to define the impact of extreme events in agriculture, identification of vulnerable areas to extreme events (drought, frost, heat waves etc.)
We search for: lead partner for a consortium or partners
The National Meteorological Administration (NMA, www.meteoronamia.ro) is the only Romanian public Administration providing weather and agro-climate services.
It also has expertise and activity in numerical modelling, climate modelling and research, agro-meteorology and remote sensing, being part in many national and international projects.
NMA already has an operational system including agrometeorological indicators that provide drought information to the farmers and decision makers in Romania. NMA contributed in the elaboration of manual/guidelines for drought impact assessment.
NMA participated to the elaboration of strategy for developing and improving an earlier system for drought risk estimate and prevention at the regional level.
