land suitability for crops; Geographic Information Systems; Remote Sensing; environmental modelling
Our expertise could help in developing and applying advanced multi-scale digital methodologies for calculation and mapping of the land suitability to crops and land use, integrating in-situ measurements, environmental modelling, GIS and remote sensing analysis.
West University of Timişoara (WUT) is part of the National System of Research, Development and Innovation as an accredited higher education institution. It is organized in 11 faculties, with a variety of programmes and academic fields which includes geography, chemistry, biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, humanities, social sciences, economics, educational science and art disciplines. The Department of Geography at WUT include several research groups such as GIS and Remote sensing team (coordinated by dr. Lucian Drăguţ), with main focuses on geomorphometry and geographic object-based image analysis (GEOBIA). The second group is CGACI Research Center (Applied Geomorphology and Interdisciplinary Research). CGACI aims to develop applied research programs, innovation through transfer and dissemination of knowledge in the field of geomorphology and related interdisciplinary approaches such as geophysical investigations. WUT offers a 2-year MSc programme in Geographic Information Systems with courses that provide basic and advanced, conceptual, theoretical and practical skills in geomorphometry, remote sensing, geospatial methods and technologies.
